|  | AIX, VILLE DE CéZANNE..... The famous painter Paul Cézanne was born in AIX in 1839. His father was a hatter there.
He went to Paris to study and made friends there but each time he went back to his Provence, his Aix.
Encouraged by his friend the painter PISSARRO, he soon abandoned his quite romantic style for the impressionist landscape technique.
His later work was distinguished from impressionism by emphasis on structural analysis and use of TONE & COLOUR to express form. He was a highly gifted painter!
His attempts to reduce forms to their geometric equivalents influenced CUBISM which is clearly visible in the photo. (This is one of my favourite works from Cézanne!)
He painted a sequence of bathers, portraits, landscapes and still life.
