that was built on the occasion of the world exposition of 1889 designed by Gustave Efifel.
You can go up to the first floor is at a level of 57 metres where you can find a post office!!
The second floor is at 115 metres height where you can find a restaurant named JULES VERNES (the writer) , one of the best (and most expensive) of Paris.
The 3rd floor is at a height of 274 metres.
Till 1931, when the Empire state building in New York was finished, the Eiffel Tower was the highest building in the world.
We are lucky that it is still here because it was meant to be dismantled after the Exhibition....now it is the symbol of Paris......
On very hot days the tower is 15 cm. heigher because of the expansion of the iron.......how very funny!
All in all the Tower is 320 metres in height!
France is very large and you will have to visit it in stages, because the variety of regions is enormous.
One time you can travel the country, while camping and hiking, another time you pay visits to big Cities such as Paris , Strassbourg, Nice, Marseille etc. etc....my list is endless.....
Frankly speaking, it will take you years to discover every nook and cranny, explore every part:all is attractive, alluring and wonderful.
Language is no problem anymore, most of the French speak and understand (some.....) English and you won't feel your ears filled with a rattle of their quickly sproken words and you won't have to break your tongue. Hands and feet and gestures can ALWAYS come in handy!!!
Dress: not too touristically, that makes a difference, wherever you go: restaurants, monasteries, cathedrals etc..
YEARS on end one can visit FRANCE and never ever get enough of this gorgeous country....
This really was the oldest MARKET HALL I have ever seen in France.....
I do so love things made of wood and preferably long, long ago.....such as market halls and church-doors........in my TRAVELOGUES you can find a number of photogenic, dignified, ancient doors..........hundreds of thousands of hands have touched this wood.....once a mighty oak or limetree....
Yes, this makes me think of WARNING YOU : there are quite some TRAVELOGUES for you to ENJOY %c*
Cone on... CLOSE YOUR EYES and travel to FRANCE with me.....where you can open them again to wonder.....
- Pros:THE MOST ALLURING, WONDROUS COUNTRY FOR HOLIDAYS...
- Cons:NONE....
- In a nutshell:A COLOURFUL, EVENTFUL COUNTRY THAT HAS EVERYTHING ON OFFER ONE COULD WISH FOR!!
