UBC

A lovely city to live in - with beautiful beaches, snow-capped mountains, waterfalls, great asian food….

We left Singapore for Vancouver in Eva Airways, 2 days straight after our exams.. I don’t like to take the airplane especially the strong turbulence and to think that we are flying past the ocean with no land & maybe the ocean is icy cold.. all right, back to Vancouver.. we stayed in YWCA for 2 nights - a lovely and clean place with shared bathrooms, the bathrooms are kept clean and we felt comfortable during the whole trip.. =) ..

On the first day, our itinerary consisted of English Bay Beach, Stanley Park, and Lynn Canyon, and Grouse Mountain. English Bay Beach has many locals jogging, reading, chit-chatting with family, friends and dogs. I can remember seeing the tree on top of the building and the 2nd time we went to Vancouver, mingen asked me to take a picture of the same tree. Hahaa! Lynn Canyon has a much smaller suspension bridge as compared to Capilano but it’s free and fun! Last stop of the day, we visited Grouse mountain and it was gorgeous. In the beginning, we had the intention to walk all the way up to save $$$, but they closed the road due to the melting snow & had to spend around $80SGD to take the tram up. We didn’t regret though, cause we were surrounded by so much snow and many kids were ski-ing.. we saw grizzly bears, wolves, well they are all caged by the way … and a wonderful sunset..

On April 20th, we crossed over a bridge to walk to Gransville Island, the view was fascinating, the buildings with the snow-capped mountains make the place so breathtaking.. The market in Gransville Island is neat, with fruits, meat and vegetables all located conveniently.. we bought 2 small cans of Honey, and the store lady was so proud of her bees..At night, we went to UBC to visit the Museum of Anthropology..Tuesdays are free entry..On 21st April, we went to Canada Place before we took the 10 hours bus ride from Vancouver to Calgary.. Oh gosh, the bus ride was terrible, so terrible that mingen swore that he won’t take Greyhound for the “after work and travel” trip.

In short, Vancouver is famous for its rain, but it didn’t rain when we were there.. thoroughly enjoyed ourselves there with its beaches, mountains, asian cuisine, weather..
