Parks / National Parks / Gardens: Chinese Gardens,Darling Harbour
  • Tip Rating: [Not enough ratings yet]
  • Just minutes from downtown Sydney and the entertainment pulse of Darling Harbour, the Chinese Garden offers a rare opportunity, outside Asia, to experience century-old traditions of Chinese landscaping, architecture and garden design.
Chinese gardens differ from western-style gardens in that there are no planted flowerbeds or manicured lawns. Instead, wild aspects of nature are recreated in artfully designed landscapes that feature waterfalls, mountains, lakes and forests.
There is a tea house here and also a opportunity to costume hire the ancient Chinese cloths of a by-gone era.
You can slip into a traditional ornate silk gown based on designs from the Ming and Ching dynasties and be momentarily transformed into an emperor, a princess or a warrior. Costumes are available to fit adults and children.

  • For any visitor to Sydney probably the first thing to do is to go down to the harbour and see the Sydney harbour bridge and the opera house.
Close the the harbour is also the Royal Sydney botanical gardens too and the Art gallery.
You can also take one of the ferry's across to either Manly beach or to Luna park .
If you want you can book a water taxi to explore the harbour for around $25.00 AUD.
There are also many very good restaurants and bars around the harbour to sit in and admire the sceanery.

    Things To Do: Imax Theatre
  • Tip Rating: [Not enough ratings yet]
  • If you get down to Darling Harbour then you should take in a (usually) 50 minute 3d movie at the Imax Theatre.
The Imax Theatre in Darling harbour Sydney is home to the world's largest movie screen.
Sydney's IMAX Theatre, in the heart of Darling Harbour, offers a sensational mix of 2D and 3D films.
The distinctive eye-shaped building is situated right on the waterfront.
The giant screen, more than eight storeys high, is designed to give audiences the ultimate film experience, screening films in both 2D and the incredibly life-like IMAX 3D.

  • Sydney's Chinatown is a colourful mixture of asian culture, shopping and cuisine. The area's distinctly oriental architecture, street lanterns and archways confirm it as a showpiece for Australian Chinese culture.Chinatown also hosts a number of performances throughout the year in line with the Chinese calendar celebrations.
The eateries in Chinatown serve up authentic asian dishes throughout the day until 4am in some cases.
    Admission to Chinatown is free.

  • Check out the views and have a great meal at the same time.
This tower's observation deck is the highest in the southern hemisphere, and at 1000 feet, the tower is by far Sydney's tallest structure.
Standing at 305 metres (1001ft) high, in the middle of the city it offers views on a clear day as far as Wollongong in the south and the bluemountains in the west,as well as the north and central coasts.
Three great tours are offered and include 15-, 30-, and 45-minute options (the half-hour version shows a movie and has moving seats).
If you get hungry there are two revolving restaurants available as well.
