La Línea de la Concepción Things to Do Tips by caldarrosta

TOURS SUGGESTED

ON FOOT

Route One: "To the18th-Century
Fort of Santa Barbara". Leave from Plaza de la Constitution and head towards Poniente esplanade. There are some amazing views of the Bay of Algeciras, Gibraltar and North Africa. Then, after crossing the neutral zone and the border, a hive of activity due to the movement of people and vehicles from this British colony, you will arrive at the Mirador and the ruins of the Fort of Santa Bárbara, on the beach of Santa Bárbara and the Levante coast.
Length: approximately 90 minutes.

Route Two: "Bunkers and dolphins"
These military structures (huge concrete blocks) in the surrounding area and also in Princesa Sofía Park, were built during the Second World War near Gibraltar. Some of them have been restored and can be seen in the surrounding area and also in Doña Sofía Park.
Length: approximately 45 minutes.

Route Three: "City Centre"
This route leaves from Plaza de la Constitución and allows visitors to see the city's main museums and monuments.
NEAR PLAZA FARIÑAS: the library and town gardens, Plaza Fariñas, and Cruz Herrera art gallery.
Length: approximately 90 minutes.
ALONG CALLE REAL AND CALLE DEL CLAVEL:
Plaza Inmaculada, the monument and church of "Las Tres Gracias", Calle Real, the archaeological museum, the Miguel Tornay historical archives, Calle Clavel, the Bull Ring, the Pepe Cabrera Bullfighting museum, and Concepción Market. Length: approximately 4 hours.
It is possible to walk about 14 km along the 7 beaches of La Línea. The level of difficulty is not the same along the entire route, as there is a tarmacked area for 10 km on the beaches of Espigón, Santa Bárbara and Levante and earthen tracks leading to the beaches of Torrenueva and Alcaidesa. You can get back to the city centre from there along the main road. Although there is a lot of traffic you can enjoy some amazing views of the Straits of Gibraltar, the Bay of Algeciras and North Africa.
