Arriving in Cacun Cancun International Airport.. After a long flight from Europe, finally you arrive in this bustling airport.. people everywhere, distributing flyers, offering to help with your bags, offering you transport.. All these people arriving to spend a holiday on this beautiful Caribean cost..
But first things first. When you arrive, you will have to go through immigration. There you will show passport and hand in the tourist card that you most certainly received and filled in during your flight. This card will be stamped, and handed back to you. Make sure you keep it safely, you need this card to leave the country.
After customs, you can move onto luggage claim.
Almost into Mexico.. you just need to go through customs. Here you will be asked to press a large button attached to a traffic light. Green you can go through, red they will search you. This is a random way of searching a certain number of passengers so don't worry if they go through your bags.
Now after customs, you'll probably be agressed from all parts to hand over your bags, to take a taxi or a shuttle.. Take a minute to gather yourself.
You'll find taxis to the hotel zone and to downtown. They are quite expensive, about 35 USD, but perhaps if there are several of you it's worth it. Then there are shuttles. You can make a reservation over the net in advance or get one at the airport. It will cost you 8 or 9 USD. The latest and cheapest and most practical transport, to downtown Cancun though is the ADO bus. It's a new sesrvice that costs 15 MXN that's 1,5 USD. It's a first class bus with air conditionning and luggage compartment. More details soon.. |
