"Split - Go Ivanisevic!!!" a Split Travel Page by Australiana

I can vaguely remember Split!! This was a few years ago.

One incident in particular I do remember and that I'll never forget....I was in Split for when Goran Ivanisevic won Wimbledon and beaten Australia's Pat Rafter~! It was absolutely awesome. There was approx 150,000 people in the city celebrating his arrival. It felt like New Years Eve. The locals were wearing Goran shirts saying: Goran is genius ;) and people were using boat flares. Croatia is a small country and to see a fellow croatian win a championship like that after how many tries....you could really feel everyone unite in the atmoshpere. I dont have these photos on me now...

I am going back to Croatia this year so I will upload relevant info. I was only in split for one night, reason being is when I do visit Croatia, I just catch a plane to Split, then I hop on a ferry/boat to get to Korcula. You can catch boats from the port to get to other islands on the adriatic.

From my experience in Croatia, whenever you hop off a coach, boat etc there are locals calling out 'doma' (renting out rooms in their houses for tourists to stay). It shouldnt be hard at all getting accomodation

I have only been to Korcula, Split and Dubrovnik. Split had the best shopping out of all (and the only place i could find macca's as well as i had been craving a choc milkshake my whole trip and no places sold them). Split did have an awesome massive shoe store with all italian leather shoes for the ladies out there....wasnt located in the town centre, a bus trip away. I will get the location and update this....

There was this one part in split....the guys were so hot. Look at how excited melinda was... on heat i'd say ;)

PS Croatia = Patriotic. Unlike Australia, wherever you go...there is the Croatian flag proudly flapping in the wind ;)
