  • Favorite Thing: Because the city is so far north, St. Petersburg has a unique characteristic which it shares with other northern cities such as Stockholm, Helsinki, Oslo... making it not so unique after all. But Petersburgians like to claim the "White Nights" or Belii Nochi of early summer for their city. It is wonderful to walk around in the late evening, around 10-11 PM or even later on the longest days, because the sunset lasts for hours and it is really beautiful. Just remember to get some sleep!

Hmm, I am a citizen of former Soviet Union, now citizen of European Union, more precisely Latvia and I have to pay exactly as much as other Europeans - Brits, French etc. so it is really not about who you are not who you were.

I left a note on this subject elsewhere. But people need to know that what we foreigners pay is comparable to, if not less, than we would at home. Russian prices are adjusted for their income.
