For some reason, Canada was one of the countries I was most looking forward to visiting (New Zealand being the other). When I finally had the chance to go for work, I was thrilled. I took an extra 10 days off to travel around and my girlfriend joined me. The first stop was Toronto where we stayed for a few days.
I really enjoyed my stay in "TO" and would definetly like to go back. Maybe I'll try summer next time as winter can be quite harsh.
We arrived at the end of November and we stayed in a conveniently located hotel close to Dundas square. This allowed us to move around quite easily in the center.
Having the Eaton Centre very close allowed us to have some delicious fresh Cinnamon Buns every morning, to the point of becoming regulars at the place. |
One of the most striking features of the city is the multicultural origin of its inhabitants. I always liked that , there is nothing more interesting than meeting people from different backgrounds. Although we did not do much socializing, just the fact of having people speaking all kinds of languages is great fun. Chinatown is obviously a good example. You feel you are in a completely different country and apart from the occasional tourist, most people speak languages that I can't understand. THAT is being on holidays is all about. |
