| Page Views: 9,744 Last Visit to Lisbon: - | Lisboa, probably the most beautiful city there is by rsilva - last update: Nov 1, 2006 |
I lived in Portugal for most of my life and the more I travel, the more I realize that it is a great country to visit. Having lived in the outskirts (Oeiras), I didn't give Lisbon the attention it deserves, mainly because it was always there and I could visit it anytime I wanted to. Now that I live abroad, I am starting to value this beautiful city more. I will slowly build these pages as I go back on a regular basis. |
Seven hills Just like Rome, Lisbon is built on seven hills, which gives it a very special charm with many steep, narrow streets and very characteristic neighborhoods like Alfama, Bairro Alto or Mouraria. There really is very much to explore, but due to these geographical features, it can be tiring, but it is well worth it. |
Special places There is an endless list of things to see/do in Lisbon and there are some very special places, some right in the center, that are not always very easy to run into if you don't know them. One is the "Casa do Alentejo" (see picture and tip), other like the "S. Domingos" church that survived the 1755 earthquake. |

| Pros: | "Atmosphere, great food, architecture" | | Cons: | "Traffic, very warm in the summer" | | In A Nutshell: | "Great place to visit that is also quite underrated" |
