| | In Eastern European terms... Budapest is something completely different. A far cry from the medievil architecture, quaint lanes and stunning squares of Prague and Bratislava.
The main city comprises of areas of Buda and Pest on the Western and Eastern banks of the Danube respectively. Pest is more of a bustling metropolis of wide avenues, hectic traffic and rushed people. A city which seems to have heavily bought into Capitalism with a fast food joint and bright lights at every turn. Wheras Buda is a relaxed and architecturally pleasant retreat.
In Hungary the temprement of the people is so different to that of it's Slavic neighbours and this is no more polarised than in Budapest. Be prepared for a bit of a fairground ride in this intriguing city. |
