'the new Sodom and Gomorah' | The Sinking, Leaning 17th Century Buildings |
The buildings on the canal were built in the 17th century. They rest on wooden foundations standing in water, therefore as the wood rots, the buildings begin to lean and drift apart. It is this, and the crazy skyline that makes Amsterdam look like somethine out of Dr. Suess. |

Yijie Mon Feb 7, 2005 16:32 UTC Thanks a lot for your tip on ATMs. I'm just deciding whether to withdraw enough cash or use my card for payments. | belgianchocolate Mon Nov 22, 2004 21:15 UTC I would not drink a Heineken even if they gave me 10 euro extra...but the night visit to the museums sounds very tempting. Too long ago since I was in Adam and it is so close. Nice page. | JetlagCity Fri Nov 12, 2004 23:58 UTC Really enjoyed your travelogues and tips! And you are so right about what kind of souvenirs to buy. I bought a great ring in Prague and it's one of my favorite "souvenirs" ever! | pieter_jan_v Thu Nov 11, 2004 06:07 UTC Great tips; keep them coming. PJ |
