| Pounding them thar hills of Seoul |
I was born under a wandering star Me's an African, man, and work has taken me to a some interesting places, as it has currently inflicted me on Seoul. I don't realy choose the next destination, it sort of picks me 'Hey geezer, des a job goin hea, d'ju want it?'. I do have an itch to see what lies over the next hill so I tend to go for it. Its interesting to see how other peepels live, their culture, customs, daily routines, foods, trying to work out how them brains work, etc. Try to avoid the tourist traps too and travel light. I travelled widely all over Southern Africa and neighbouring countries in my younger years, most fascinating of these being Mocambique in the heyday of the cicil war, but that's another story. More recently work has taken me outside of Africa, to the UK, a bit of Europe, Australia and now Asia. Have also been to some other Asian countries like Japan, Hong Kong and Indonesia, will try to add stuff on them too. |
| Gordons Bay beach and mountain backdrop |
Home Gordons Bay is a charming village about 60 kilometres out of Cape Town on False Bay. It has beautifull mountains and very popular beaches. |
| Now where's dem smelly feet |
And this is where the wandering started This is Savuti Game Reserve in Botswana, Southern Africa. The camp is unfenced and at night guys like these roam around looking for snacks. Make sure not to disguise yourself as a snack and keep your feet inside the tent when sleeping. These guys have been known to grab a small refrigerator and run off with it. This was taken through the mosquito netting of a tent, fortunately that looks like a solid wall to them. |
| Hmm, just checking the dinner cart |
Whatever you do, stay inside your vehicle or you may become dinner. Later the same night she came running through our came while we were walking to the ablutions (toilets). We carefully retraced our steps. |
| Oh, I should stop eating garlic trees.... |
These shoes were also made for walking To see an African elephant in real life in the wild makes the hair on the back of your neck stand upright. It is an amazing sight, these huge behemoths rumbling calmly through the countryside. They say if you get up close you can hear their stomaches rumbling as they digest all the greenstuff and bark they eat, a veritable gas factory, better not too get up close. |
