Komodo Island

Me and my friends wanted to explore eastern part of Indonesia as a part of our travel mission: to explore those islands outside Java.
We came up with this idea to go to Komodo Island as well as Sumbawa and Lombok. We checked out Lonely Planet and found out that we could take a 5 days boat trip from Labuan Bajo to Lombok. We went island hopping from one beautiful island to another. We had the shock of our lives, discovering the beauty of eastern part of Indo.

Komodo dragon is the largest lizard in the world. Komodo Island is the only place in the world where the dragon still exist. There are only about 154 dragons left in the national park. They prey on deer, wild boar, wild buffalo and horse. Sometimes Komodo just bite their prey that would eventually die from getting infected by many deadly bacteria in Komodo saliva. Breeding season occurs between July - August. The female can lay up to 30 eggs, which will hatch about 8 months later. The juveniles live on trees and feed on small animals.

We went trekking for about 1.5 hr and actually it wasnt that tiring but the heat could kill you. Our tour guide didn't even have a single sip of water. while me and my friends almost died from dehydration while climbing that hill !!! About 70% of the park covered by savanna. Vegetation dominated by grasses and you can also find monsoon forest and mangrove forest.

Pros and Cons

Pros:Komodo dragon is CUTE!!
Cons:no matter how cute they look, y'aint wanna mess with them :D
In a nutshell:must visit this place and life would never be the same again

Sebelum pergi ke pulau komodo, gak pernah kebayang seberapa besarnya komodo asli hehehe.... Banyak pengalaman seru selama disana. Flores is great to be visited!!

I find the komodo's facinating animals...I would love to see the island. ;-) In Belgium , I almost never eat fish , because it is not fresh...I really really enjoyd eating fish and lobster in Indonesia. Great pictures.
