I spent a lot of time here at Davis Park this summer. Its a small town on Fire Island. One can get there by private boat or ferry. No cars. Davis Park is a summer community, although there are a few who live there year round. Walking distance, about a mile east of here is Watch Hill. I spent more time there, but VT doesnt have a listing for it. Again the only way to get here is by boat or ferry. The only people living at Watch Hill are park rangers. There are no other homes. If you want to spend a night here, you sleep on your boat or you can camp at the camp grounds. However, to camp you must book well in advance. The other problem with camping here is if you dont have a private boat, you are only permitted a cetain amount of stuff to come over by ferry unless you pay extra. It's also a long walk from the ferry to the camp sites.Bring that "little red wagon" to help transport your stuff. I recently got back some great pictures of Watch Hill and will be posting them soon. |
