We've all been to places that we've built up in the days before arriving only to get there and be disappointed that it did not meet our expectations. Bled is a place that will exceed any and all expectations you might have. It struck me as a place built for tourist without succoming to being "touristy". It was full of people but didn't find it crowded. Bled is a place that allows you to take in some stunning scenery.
The pictures you may have seen of Bled simply do not compare to actually being there in the flesh. The lake is home to the most picturesque setting your apt to find anywhere in the world with a castle set atop a craggy outcrop dominating over the entire lake and a church built out on the countries only island which only adds to its charm. |
| | Bled's surrounding area Aside from the church and castle there is also a number of other very worth while things to do around the lake including the Vintgar gorge, Lake Bohinj, the Vrsic pass and of course Triglav national park. This part of Slovenia should be on everybody's "to do" list because it's simply just that spectacular.
We came to Bled by way of a very unusual path due to getting lost and road closures, we found ourselves high up in the mountains above the town of Zelezniki. Here we came across this chuch set out on a thin piece of land. Very dramatic setting I thought |
| | Triglav National Park Bled sits on the Edge of Triglav National Park and many people use Bled as a base to explore the park. |
