Kasbah Agafay: Dar Les Cigognes Boutique Hotel Marrakech
  • Tip Rating:

  • This hotel is one of the most sumptuous and unexpected finds in Marrakech. Located a babouche toss from the Palais Badi, and directly opposite the Royal Palace, it has 11 sumptuous rooms and suites, restaurant serving delicious Moroccan delicacies, a hammam and spa (massages to die for), and roof terrace with one of the best views in all of Marrakech. The beds are enormous, and fantastically comfortable, with plum pillows and high quality sheets, the bathtubs are enormous, and service is exquisite. Rare for a riad hotel, it has street access, making it easy to find, and to come and go in a taxi, which, is a huge advantage.

Unique Qualities: The view from the roof terrace and roof garden at sunset onto the palace ramparts, with views of the snow-capped Atlas mountains in the distance, and the row after row of storks in their nests resting precariously on the crenellations of the parapets in the Palace just opposite are magical. The Koutoubia mosque minaret, lit up in the fading purples of the night sky, sun setting just behind, is something we will never forget. Every room at the hotel is different too, each designed with real flair around a theme representing a different part of Moroccan heritage: from French inspired Art Deco to Berber weaving patters, or the ethereal carved stucco that also adorns the palaces. A not to miss hotel!
