"St Lucia - A Brief Visit" Saint Lucia by stevezero

Part of our Carribbean cruise.....
We arrived at St Lucia at dawn and our first sight of the island was of the magnificent Pitons, towering volcanoes on the coast
St Lucia is one of the Windward Islands, Which face the Tradewinds head on. It is an island of jagged volcanic peaks which separates the Caribbean Sea from the Atlantic Ocean. It is also an island of thick rainforest and acres of banana plantations St Lucias strategic position gave rise to years of battles for its possession. The English were finally victorious over the French, but the French legacy still remains in some of the island's placenames and in the patois spoken by the locals

Beach

Later in the morning we visited Vigie Beach home to one of the islands plushest all-incusive hotels Set in beautiful surroundings it is but a short walk from the centre of Castries

Another beach

In the afternoon we took a bus to the resort of Rodney Bay, where most of the islands tourist hotels are situated. Again you can find here find white sandy beaches and all the beach activities you could wish for.
