A syndicate of eight headed by Clem Walton and Norm McConach discovered this orebody on July 4th 1954.
Two days later the leases were pegged and the deposit named "Mary Kathleen" in the memory of the wife of Norm McConach.
Production was based on contracts for the sale of uranium and in 1984 production ceased and the township auctioned off.
Even though no buildings remain, the ghost town like atmosphere make one wounder what this flourishing community would have been like. (sign on the entry to the town) |
