I visited Venice with my husband on our first wedding anniversary. I found it to be a beautiful, hot (we were there in summer) and picturesque place.
The times not to go are between May and September as it is very busy. I visited on the tail end and it was still extremely busy but if you go off the beaten track you find that there are less tourists about and the people are much friendlier.
My only disaapointment was that some of Venice is really starting to look a bit derelict and its a shame since they get so much from tourism that money doesnt seem to be being put into keeping it pristine - unless that is the effect they want to have.,. |
| Traditional architecture in venice |
| | Architecture in Venice This was my first visit to Italy and I loved the architecture. It was a lot more traditional and authentic than some of the places I have visited. The windows all had shutters and the terracotta orange was a popular colour. |
| | Bridges and canals I throroughly recommend walking and exploring Venice rather than opting for the boats all the time - you see and experience a lot more. There is a lot of beautiful architecture which you miss if you don'tn wander in and out of the canals and there are numerous picturesque bridges to wander across. |

| Pros: | "Very easy to get around and beautiful architecture" | | Cons: | "The men trying to get you to buy fake designer bags and chasing you everywhere" |

Penelope4 Sun Feb 3, 2008 14:08 UTC What you have written is very helpful indeed. I have read many travel tips on Venice but I can't remember somebody has cared to write about the price for the ride. This info is useful really since not everybody goes there for honeymoon. Tnx Zoe-Michelle! |
