Würzburg is the northernmost city on the Romantic Road. The Celts founded the city around 650 B.C. where the Marienberg Fortress now lies. It is the center of Germany's Franken wine growing region. Würzburg offers historic art and architecture spanning the Romanesque, Gothic, Renaissance, Baroque and Rococo periods. It also offers excellent white wine. You can see the vineyards in the background of the above picture. |
|  | Würzburg is a really fun city with a great mix of history and food & wine. There is a large university population, so there is plenty of bars, restaurants, and shopping.
