Hm..., so now I am a newbie in Hannover. :)) I guess that town will get a markstone in its importance to me. Starting to live sometimes there... and so I want start now also my pages about that exceptional town.
Hannover is really exceptional, just seeing that. I guess it is good to be a newbie, because I see with another eyes than citizens or only as tourist.

Here is a part of the official Describe:
"The Old Town has many a picturesque corner inviting passers-by to linger, while the exotic landscapes of Hannover’s Adventure Zoo are sources of fascination for all the family. Those whose delight it is to go shopping will find that Hannover has one of Germany’s longest pedestrian zones, while in many of the Region’s smaller towns the historic half-timbered buildings provide charmingly atmospheric backdrops for shopping expeditions. All around there are a wealth of recreational areas such as Lake Steinhude, the Deister Hills, Calenberger Land or the valley of the River Leine, offering a wide diversity of leisure activities out in the open air.

As a city of trade fairs and events, Hannover is easily and conveniently accessible via Hannover Airport, the A2 and A7 motorways or German Rail’s network of ICE high-speed trains. And the whole region is connected together by a comprehensive system of public transport. You are cordially invited to come and spend a marvellous time in Hannover."

Belong the Red Thread

Hannover's Red Thread is a floorline visitors’ guide of a different kind. The Red Thread is painted on the pavement, is 4200 metres long, and weaves its way through the inner city joining up 36 prime attractions. All you have to do is follow The Red Thread.

This „do it yourself“ city tour is accompanied by an informative brochure which describes all of the interesting buildings and monuments you meet along the way, and is also full of interesting historical background.

Hannover's one of the absolutely "must to do" is a visit of Herrenhausen Gardens, it's festivals and arts. Please, have a look for that special tip.

New Town Hall

The tower with its dome measures no less than 97.73 metres to the point of its gilded finial.
The oblique lift, takes visitors up to a viewing platform from where they have a magnificent view over the city. More about the town hall you read in travel tips.
Inside and outside ... very impressive!

Pros and Cons
  • Pros:exceptional, alive but silent, colorful but green, "new and old"...
  • Cons:some parts (streets) too dirty
  • In a nutshell:the town of interesting opposites
