I did two short journeys to Alsace-Lorraine. Once in the surroundings of Selestat, another time to Wissembourg., a very beautiful town.
Unfortunately, a lot of photo material has also got lost. Selestat, Barr, Gertwiller, St. Odile, the marvelous scenery, vineyards, and of course an excursion to the close Strasbourg have remained from the first trip in memories. Strasbourg, the pretty town and impressive Münster. And everywhere of course fantastic food.
Wissembourg, Lembach and region there are the roots of my ancestors. It was my last trip to France in the same time we made vacation in Palatinate Forest.
Only some pictures, nevertheless - enjoy! |
| | Lembach Only some kilomters behind the German border to France there is Lembach. A charming little town with many good restaurants.
Not far from Lembach you find Castle Fleckenstein, and also one entrance to famous "Maginot casemates" (defence system, bunker) |
B i t c h e B i t c h e in Lorraine is a town with a prestigious past. Built around its secular citadel by plans of Vauban. Surrounded by forests, at road to Metz.
This picture is made on Citadel with view to the top of one church of the town.
---Sorry, it´s really the name of this French town. I had to distance the single letters for this town name because VT computer is cancelling the name automatically.--- | | |
