Berlin - The Capital

by elgin99 - last update: Apr 3, 2007

New Experiences

Holocaust Memorial, Berlin
During 30 years I had prejudices. I saw this town at times of the former GDR and it kept also with these eyes. Nothing drawn me to Berlin. The Berlin citizens been "disreputable" as arrogancy. So it was, confess... but that got the past. ;)
Taken the chance and spent some days there. I was surprised how beautiful the town has got. I could finally go to the "other side", too. So it was a new experience, as if I was there first time, and I was indeed, mainly totally new.
I don't know what I shall take as start picture. There are so much which are great and worth to show. So I decided to take that what I like myself as photographer... the blocks in Holocuast Memorial.

What to say...some official facts

And this is the official describe:

Berlin is the capital city and one of the sixteen states of the Federal Republic of Germany. It is the heart of the Berlin-Brandenburg metropolitan region, located in northeastern Germany. With a population of 3.4 million in its city limits, Berlin is the country's largest city, and the second most populous city in the European Union. The Larger Urban Zone is home to 4.9 million people, and is the fifth largest in the EU.

Berlin is one of the most influential centers in European politics, culture and science. The city serves as an important hub of continental transportation and is home to some of the most prominent universities, sporting events, orchestras and museums. Its economy is based on the service sector, encompassing a diverse range of media and life science corporations, convention venues, research institutes, and creative industries.

Some more details are here.

What I say myself

I have started to revise my opinion of this town. It has become a bright and coloured town full of lives and light. I even start to like them. What I could visit till now is written in my tips.

And what has filled me with enthusiasm? A lot of, the cathedral, the Potsdam place, the avenue Unter den Linden , the area at the central station and the Reichstag. It is funny to be in Berlin.

wonderful views of one of my favorite cities in Germany. I like Potsdamer Platz too, I saw it in Christmas time though, when I stayed in the hotel near by.
