Makati is located on the northwest by the City of Manila, and on the south and southwest by the City of Pasay. It is one of the many cities of the National Capital Region. Makati is a short 15 minute-drive from the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) and the Manila Domestic Airport. Apparently I did not land in NAIA but instead landed in Clark airport. Airport immigration can be a little hassle due to a couple process, the longest process was baggage checking. My journey from Kuala Lumpur to Clark took me about 5 long hours and to Manila/ Makati it took me another boring 3-4 hours ride via cab. Just imagine I had lunch at 4pm. Geezzz…. I figure Makati is a business district with lotsa banks & offices. Everyone was seems to be on the ‘work’. Every dude looks busy busy. And yes Filipinos are a bunch of hard working people. Job isn’t easy to get as mention by the locals as such most people do take their job seriously. Not to mention a couple of shopping complexes and entertainment joint exist in Makati. This place can be said shop till you drop. Stuffs here are rather cheap. High end shopping centre such as 'SM’ shopping complex are huge and I think they monopolize the entire city as they are almost everywhere. Flea markets are available as well. Areas like Quaipo and Baclaran where bargain hunters hunt their way for best finds. Population is aplenty actually. I was told it’s close to 80 mill people leaving in Manila/ Makati and that’s freaking a lot. 80 % of the folks here are Christian & the minorities are Muslim. The folks here basically speak English other than their major Filipino language (tagalong, something like that). Traffic in general is a chaos here but somehow the local driver here a pretty careful and skillful. Jams do happen during the day time although they have the skyway train but even the trains are packed with people. Total chaos here! Another noticeable thing in manila/Makati is billboards. Tons of them. So much so the entire city looks like an advertising magazine. The local government is doing something alright as it’s an obstruction to the drivers there. Beside this Makati being a bustling city in Manila, other place like Boracay island are another tourist attraction as well. It seems Philippines consist of approximately 7,000 islands. Season to visit these island are from December to May. Well for me, maybe next time soon visiting these islands is a must in the near future. |
