| | Something Else I have been to Hong Kong several times.Tha last time was as a tourist. It was a very different place. I had been several times before as a singer, engaged by ex-pats to give them a taste of european culture.Always I had loved the place. The crowds, the shopping, the restaurants(I cant seem to get away from food sorry)This time there were no ex-pats,just a lot of business men trying to get deals with the new regime. I sort of missed "The Ladies Who Lunch" at The Penninsular. The shopping was just as good. It seems as thought the street traders at night, where you canbuy cheap clothes, are now illegal, because everytime a policeman came past, they would all pack up incredibly quickly and hide, only to come out again as soon as they had gone. The food was just as excellent and my hotel, I like The old Miramar Hotel. It has big rooms and high ceilings and good breakfasts, was still the same. The new airport was a wonder. .Free transport from your hotel to a local station,.You checked your luggage through to Sydney at the local station. An amazing fast train to the airport with great service and information. Cant recommend it enough. Hong Kong is still really interesting and well worth a visit. |
