One place you absolutely have to visit while there Hanauma Bay is gorgeous. Tourists and locals go there to snorkel and see beautiful tropical fishes/turtles. There was a $1 fee for parking and an entrance fee as well. You can also rent snorkeling equipments as well for a reasonable price.
Expect to spend at least 2-3 hours there and try to arrive early as there is a quota allowed on the beach. Prior to entering Hanauma Bay, they will present you with a video indicating the importance of the reserve and how the fees go to preserving this beautiful reserve.
Hanauma Bay is about 30 minutes from Waikiki by car. You can also take the bus there but it will take an hour at least.
Try to get there in the early morning so you can avoid severe sunburn at high noon. Eat prior to or after snorkeling because food is not allowed down there. My sister and I ate at their cafe. We had the Maui Onion Burger. It was very good it you're an onion lover because it had onion buns, grilled onion, and lots of sweet Maui Onion. I highly recommend it. It was an $8-10 burger.
If you can't swim and you want to see fishes, go to your far left because the water is shallow there and you can see all sorts of fishes. |

| | A hike up Diamond Head One of the out door attraction is Diamond Head Crater. Initially I was worried about the hike. The hike is not too bad. Give yourself an hour to enjoy the hike and the scenery. Bring water and a flashlight because you will be walking through a tunnel. There is a part where there will be a steep incline. Take your time if you're an amateur or if you're afraid of heights (like I am). There are several stops along the way that will make great pictures. However, the best view is from the very top. You can see the city from there. It's breathtaking. |
How can you forget the beach! The beach was gorgeous. When we first arrived in Oahu, our first destination was KFC (because we wanted a quick bite before our Luau) and then the beach. We were both captivated by it. It was truly indeed as we had imagined it to be. I have never seen such blue water. It was sprinkling on top of that but the weather was fine. There are shops all along the street and there's a ABC store every 3 stores you see. It's true and they provide a lot of essentials too. It's your best bet if you run out of something. | | | Skyscrapers right on the beach! |
