Cincinnati Art Museum

Courtyard
One of the true hidden treasures of Cincinnati is the art Center. The art center has been existence for well over 100 years, with parts of the building dating back to the 1870’s. The permanent collection spans time from ancient Egypt to modern glass works. The galleries frequently feature special or traveling exhibits. Admission is free (except for selected special exhibits.) The expanded restaurant has tables in the newly restored courtyard. http://www.cincinnatiartmuseum.org/

Contemporary Arts Center

The Contemporary Arts Center has moved into its new and expanded quarters on Fifth Street. The building is a work of modern art in itself. Take time to enjoy the stairs, walk over to the front corner of the lobby and look down the stairs to the lower level. The galleries feature modern art and installations by modern art. The art center has a history of taking on controversial artists. Admission is charged, but a tour of the building is worth the price. http://www.contemporaryartscenter.org/

Findlay Market

Located about 15 blocks north of the downtown area is the historic Findlay Market. The market features both open market stalls with fresh produce from the area and permanent vendors of meats, cheeses, and baked goods. The market features a nice selection of fresh produce, fresh meats, locally made sausages, imported foods and specialty items. There are several parking lots around the market and on street parking in the area. The neighborhood market was alive with traffic. Caution, the neighborhood could be a little intimidating to someone not accustomed to an older inner city neighborhood. Be sensible in parking and walking, the market is well worth the adventure. http://www.findlaymarket.org/
