A World Class City

by OiKnow - last update: Jul 9, 2006

Skyline from the Harbor

Soaring Skylines

Chicago is a great American city, and really one of the great cities of the World. Chicago has world class shopping, museums, entertainment and architecture. I visit Chicago whenever I have the opportunity, if it was 500 miles further south, I’d love to live there (the winters can be brutal.) Chicago has a memorable skyline with two of the 10 tallest buildings in North America. There is a great variety of architecture in Chicago.

Great Ethnic Foods

Chicago still has great emigrant neighborhoods and wonderful ethnic foods. You can find a restaurant specializing in nearly any cuisine from around the world. Prices are fair by big city standards; the portions tend to be large (reflecting the Midwestern influence.) Specific recommendations can be found in the tips section, also ask at your hotel, they will generally have recommendations that are excellent and within walking distance.
A French Lunch someplace in the Loop
Millennium and Grant Parks

A city of Parks and Museums

Chicago is a city of apartment dwellers who use the parks of the city as their front and backyards. The city is filled with wonderful parks that welcome visitors to stroll around. I read someplace that Chicago has nearly 200 museums ranging from the grandeur of Art Institute, Field Museum and Shed Aquarium to tiny specialized collections such as the Leather Archives.
