Our 5th time in Ovacik We seem unable to resist going back to Turkey and Ovacik in particular. Our first time to the country was to Kalkan which was very nice but fairly small and touristy. Ovacik although in walking distance of the notoriously commercial and some might say gaudy "village" of Hisaronu is far enough away to be peaceful and where we stayed at the Ant Apartments was just set back from the main road that takes you the 5 miles or so into Fethiye. It is a very good base and very easy to pick up one of the frequent and cheap dolmus's that can take you to the town or in the opposite direction down to the wonderful beach and lagoon of Olu Deniz. I have also been to Orhaniye which was quite a remote little place approx 15 miles from Marmaris but it may as well have been 50. I went at the end of October and the little there was closed but it felt truly Turkish and people there were very friendly and helpful. |
