Alexandria, founded by the Macedonian Alexander the Great, is kind of an abandoned city compared to the typical destinations in Egypt i.e Cairo, Luxor, Hurghada, Sharm el Sheikh. There are tourists that go here but to me it still seemed very quiet. It had rained before I arrived here thus some streets in the city were flooded. |
| | And for once, it looks different from Cairo's street scene as this place has a lot of cafes and nice Greek eateries. Not the typical kind of coffee houses (ahwas) that you find in Cairo; where mostly (and sometimes ONLY) men dominate those places with their arabic coffee in one hand and shisha pipe in the other. So, I found my little pleasure here in Alexandria, got what I asked for: coffee! :-)
I was only here on a day trip. Didn't get to do as much as I wanted due to limited time. I really liked this place tho as it has a gorgeous view of the blue waters of the Mediterranean Sea. |
| | Spent my time sightseeing and talking to locals while walking along the seafront Corniche (26th of July), on the Eastern Harbour. Great view, great smell great experience overall. |
