  • This hotel is located on the other side of the nile river in the suburb of Doqqi, although it’s not a long walk to the city centre. The only downside is you’ll have to walk through a bad traffic especially at the midan roundabouts, where main roads merge. Cars won’t stop to give pedestrian a chance to cross the roads.. at all.

The hotel was fine. It was run by a family so their staffs were informal towards each other. Facilities were good. Small reception counter, lobby full with mirrors on the wall which made it look bigger, bright and welcoming.

Breakfast was the same everyday; toast, eggs, olives, Egyptian bread.

  • This is a boutique hotel. It 's beautiful but if you pay attention you’ll notice that their furniture show a lot of wear. Then again it’s an old hotel, built 80 years ago.

My toilet didn't work so I was moved to another room. Advantage of this hotel is it’s located in the city centre; only walking distance to shops, public transportation, eating places, etc.

I slept with the windows open to get the cool winter chill and plus my room had a very nice view of pedestrian walkways with rows of Egyptian coffee houses on the sides. Quiet at night though which was a bonus! Especially in a 24hr city like Cairo.
