Iznik formerly known as Nicea, lies at the eastern tip of Lake Iznik. Originally an importent Roman and Byzantine town, it fell to Selcuks in 1078 and subsequently to thr Ottomans in 1331 and remained under the sovereignty of Ottoman Empire for a long time.

 Can't say that I would have heard of Iznik before but it looks like a lovely place, which I would like to visit one day. Maybe you could write more tips later on. Happy birthday from Finland!
