Herceg Novi

Herceg Novi is renowned for its flowers and exotic plants, and also has an abundance of trees.

We first visited the castle, Forte Mare, situated immediately above the coast, admiring the views across the bay from its battlements; and then went on to the old square, to enjoy a drink at one of its outdoor cafes adjacent to the Herceg Stijepan church.

From there, we walked down the steep roads and steps back to the promenade, where we got aboard the road train which runs the length of it.

Herceg Novi

The sea-front is popular with holiday-makers, and all along it are separate beaches, each looked after by a different restaurant, which charges a small sum for entry and to hire sun-beds and sun umbrellas. They also serve drinks and food if required.

We eventually settled down for the afternoon at a sandy beach, from which we enjoyed some pleasant swimming.
