| | Ruaha National Park covers a vast area of 10,300 sq km, 128km west of Iringa, partly forested and partly open plains, surrounded by hills and mountains. It also has rivers flowing through it, in one of which we saw crocodiles and hippos, although some of the rivers were dried up whilst we were there. There is masses of wildlife of all sorts, which our driver was amazingly good at spotting and showing to us. It is often well camouflaged, and we wouldn't have seen nearly as much as we did without his help! The park is, however, very empty of people, and we spent a whole day being driven round it without seeing another vehicle! |
Our guide was arranged for us by the owners of the Riverside Campsite near to Iringa. He collected us from Iringa after lunch, and drove us to Mwagusi Safari Lodge, where we were to stay for 2 nights. He drove us round the park for a day and a half, and then, after lunch on the third day, drove us to the Riverside Campsite, where we were to stay for one night before returning to Dar Es Salaam.
