CN Tower: Bungy Jumping Madness

Quite funny really. Bungy Jumping Madness was VT's example for my description of the CN Tower and I thought OH YES. The CN tower is probably the first thing that comes to mind to do when you get here because it's so in your face, you really can't miss it. And yes, it's right, you just have to go. The Tower itself IS a wonder from the views from the bottom, to the ride up in the elevator, to the views from the top, it really is something that a visitor to Toronto shouldn't miss. I just pitty those poor people who don't like heights. They would deffinately not like it up here. Especially the Glass Floor, (342 m (1,122 ft)), it's amazing to stand on it and look straight down. At this level also is the Outdoor Observation Deck. Further up still is the Horizons Café and the Indoor Observation Deck. At 351 m (1,150 ft.) is 360, the fine dining restaurant which rotates slowly, (once every 2 hours), giving a full view. (continued).

CN Tower: Up in the SKY POD

(continued) Right at the top, (with public access anyway), is the Sky Pod, the worlds highest public observation deck at 447 m (1,465 ft.). Of course on a beautiful day like we had the views are beyond words. Naturally because this is a "must do" experience you WILL have to queue. Although you can buy tickets online from their website and it says avoid the queues. It may be worth a try. At the base of the tower are a selection of add-ons, simulators, games etc. I know parents will have a job talking the kids out of the extra expense but they really are just dross floating on top of the true experience, (not the kids, the attractions). And of course they aren't compulsory.

Just 1.5 miles from the shores of Lake Ontario is a wonderful park we stumbled accross. Queens Park is quite a surprise so close to the downtown area of such a big city. Luckily, (being October), the weather cleared up after a morning of drizzle and we spent quite a long time here one afternoon. The park was named after Queen Victoria in 1860 by Edward Prince of Wales, (later Edward VII). The center of the park is home to the Ontario Legislature. The park is officially owned by the university, but is leased from them for a dollar per year. Now that's a good deal. This park, in fact most of the city is home to a large poulation of Black Squirrels. They seem pretty fearless in the park and will come to you if you are offering food. A lovely place to sit and relax for a while and probably best of all it doesn't cost a penny.

Things To Do: Mysteriously Yours... Dinner Theatre

We went to this theatre on our first day in Toronto which probably wasn't a good idea as we were tired, ( my wife was almost comatose ), but our 15 year old really wanted to try it. We walked to the theatre up Yonge Street form its junction with College but a Subway train would also do it. Never having been to one of these shows before we didn't know what to expect but we were shown in and sat at a table of about 8, (not knowing if one of our 8 was in the show). The food was excellent and the show was very good. Very entertaining. We also got to meet some Canadians on our table and some visitors from the US. And no none of them were in the show. Nothing embarrassing happened, (a fear particularly of my wife), although birthday and anniversary people were invited onto the stage. All in all a very pleasant evening and a new experience. Just a shame we were jet lagged which meant we had no chance of working out who-dun-it. that's our excuse anyway. Quite expensive at around $70Ca each, ( in Oct 2000 ),but then I guess you get what you pay for. Friday, Saturday and some Thursday evenings.
