Inside the Caves
Sterkfontein is one of the world's most productive and important palaeoanthropological sites. It is the place where the very fist adult ape-man was found.
This ancient cave system has over the years revealed a sequence of deposits with fossils dating from about 3.5 to 1.5 million years ago. If you go there you will be able to see the remains of the Sabre Tooth Tiger , the 1st human skulls (the story of Evolution) and many more.
Directions: Go to the above a address for a well defined map of how to get there. firstname.lastname@example.org for tourist Bookings

SAB Beer Tour
This is a popular, refreshing and, to any beer drinker, ultimately fascinating museum. It unlocks the secrets of brewing in South Africa, from the time when the crudely brewed sorghum beer first passed the lips of early Africans. In the Ales Pavilion, the European tradition of brewing ales and lagers is described.
For just R10, our one and a half hour guided tour through 6000 years of brewing magic.

Against the backdrop of the magnificent Witpoortjie waterfall, this Garden (previously called the Witwatersrand National Botanical Garden) covers almost 300 hectares and consists of both landscaped and natural veld areas.
The natural vegetation of the area is known as the "Rocky Highveld Grassland" and consists of a mosaic of grassland and savanna, with dense bush in kloofs and along streams.
The JCI Geological Trail has recently been developed and gives visitors the opportunity to not only walk along the Roodekrans Ridge and in the Nature Reserve portion of the Garden, but also to learn something about the fascinating geology of the area. Guided tours can be arranged for groups.
Be sure not to miss out on the Black Eagels that Inhabit the area by the waterfall. There is also hiking trails taking you up to the waterfall where you might get a better view of the Black eagles living here.
Directions: It`s in Ruimsig west of Johannesburg down the Hendrik Potgieter Road.

The Blyde River Canyon
The Blyde River Canyon is one of the most spectacular views in South Africa and its cliffs rise between 600m-800m from the river bed.
At the Three Rondavels viewpoint (also called The Three Sisters) is an unforgettable view of three huge rock spirals rising out of the far wall of the Blyde River Canyon.
Water erosion over the years created these great potholes called the Bourkes Luck Potholes.
This is definitely a place worth seeing.
Directions: Hoedspruit Airport is an hour away by plane from Johannesburg International Airport and forty minutes drive away from the Kruger National Park. This is the fastest way to Blyde River Canyon

Just infront of the Bird Gardens at MonteCasino is the Hundai Balloon. It`s a helium balloon in which you can go up into the air with and get great views of Johannesburg ,Sandton and the Magaliesburg Mountains and also the surroundings. It last for 15 mins and then the balloon is lowered by a under ground cable. Cost is R70 per person.
This is a nice garden to visit. They have alot of different birds here including reptiles and some small animals. They also have various shows here at the Ampitheathre. One of the things I like here is that they got alot parrots here all walking around ,the wings is clipped so you can get really close to them and so seem to follow you around.
The bird avaries is really great to visit as they have a wide variety of birds there.
A nice place to check out when at MonteCasino.
Address: MonteCasino Boulevard
Directions: From the N1 take the William Nicol Turnoff, turn onto William Nicol Drive and drive in a Northerly direction towards Fourways for approximately 3km.
Cross over Leslie Road. At the next traffic light intersection turn right into Montecasino Boulevard.
I went to Croc City which is a crocodile farm which is situated very close to the Lion Park. I think its about 2km or so away which will make a nice stop if you visiting the Lion Park.
The staff here is very nice and made my visit very enjoyable even though I was disappointed that it was nothing I expected it to be. Maybe I was expecting it to be like the Kwena Gardens at Sun City but I guess it was small and less interesting if I compared the 2 places.. Well I think its a nice place if you wanna take you kids as they have nice vacalities there for them as well like a Jumping castle and so on. They have feeding time which is at 2pm on a Saturday and Sunday which was rather interesting. The crocodiles was fed whole chickens as they have 3 enclosers and in each enclosers the size of the crocodiles varied. The 1st encloser had small crocodiles , the 2nd had meduim sized and the last was quiet big Nile Crocodiles.
You can also have your photo taken holding a baby crocodile or with some Phythons for a fee of R15.
Entrance is R40 for adults and R20 for kids.
You go check out the crocodiles on your own but I would recommend go with the guide as its free and much more interesting.
