Glasgow, it must be seen...

Willow Tea Room - Charles Rennie MacIntosh
We were lucky enough to be able to spend six days in Glasgow for the ringing of the New Year. Hogmanay as they say here...

Unfortunately the weather was mostly dreadful. The old red sandstone buildings looked like they had had their fill of the rain; the architectural details around the windows frowning like eyebrows to protect the windows from the downpour. The raised gravel stones in the pavement glissened with the rain as if Champagne was trickling down the streets. The clowds seemed to be within reach as they loomed low and full and dark. The wind was powerful and rough... It would blast you with all its might as you would turn a corner on the street, then all of a sudden, nothing; everything was calm.

People were ready to celebrate Hogmanay. Unfortunately due to the 80 miles per hour winds and the rain coming from the Atlantic, the George Square Hogmanay celebrations were cancelled.

When we finally did get a few days without rain it felt as if the punishment was finally over. No trace of a storm or rain... just blue skies above. People were out and about shopping and walking around town.
