I guess this could apply to any other place in the world as well...

A friend of mine was at an all-inclusive resort, partying at the hotel's dance bar...She needed to go back to her room for a bit but was told by the waitress she could not leave the hotel bar area with her glass in hand, the waitress said she'd keep it for her...

It seems that somebody slipped something in it...the next morning she was just found beat-up on hotel property in the bushes where they park the hotel golf carts. She had to have medical attention and had to wait for the swelling to go down before she could be escorted on an earlier flight home.

Never leave your drink unattended!

P.S. Yes, I did speak with her directly; yes, I saw some of her bruises; yes, she had to file a second police report as the first one had mysteriously vanished; yes, she did miss work and was hospitalized for some time because of this... further travel safety tips can be acquired at:
