Painting in room
Charming hotel right on the edge of Copper Canyon. The sunrises and sunsets are to kill for. You can hike from the hotel to a couple different overlooks. The rooms are decorated very nicely with customized painting that adds a lot of ambiance. There is a very nice, and large bar, that has magnificent views and a fireplace. Several rooms have nice porches that you can sit on while enjoying the view.
This hotel is not in Creel but Creel is the closest town I could find. Divisadero is a stop on the Copper Canyon Railroad (El Chepe) where the train stops for about 15-20 minutes.
Unique Qualities: Rustic in a very nice way. There are dozens of Tarahumara pots and baskets on display throughout the hotel and there are beautiful carved and painted (some) doors. There are charming touches everywhere you look. They also sell food packs of rice, beans, oil, pasta and flours you can take to the Tarahumara Indians when you visit an isolated village. The restaurant has a fixed menu - everyone gets the same thing but does a very good job for a place that is so isolated. Several Tahahuma Indians set out their baskets and carvings between the hotel and the train station.
Address: Disiadero - stop on Copper Canyon Railroad - see below
Comparison: more expensive than average
