Musee D'Orsay is my favorite museum in Paris. The scale is perfect and the building is magnificent. It is just right! If you find the Louvre overwhelming, you will love the D'Orsay. The photo is of Pompon's Polar Bear. You can find the Polar Bear in Dijon too - in the Jardin D'Arcy and at the Musee des Beaux Arts. The other photos are of another favorite sculpture at the D'Orsay. The first is of the full scupture; the second is a close-up of the face. You can actually SEE a veil over her face. Amazing!

This is a magnificent little gem that is not far from Notre Dame. While everyone is standing in a long line to get into Notre Dame, you can practically walk into Sainte-Chapelle. Be sure to go upstairs because this is where the magnificent chapel is. It is a must if you like stained glass. The gargoyle is from the exterior of Sainte-Chapelle - I felt a connection with this gargoyle. The expression on the gargoyle's face is a pretty accurate rendition of how I feel once in a while.

This is a very historic cemetery and many famous people are buried here. If you are not interested in the people, you might just enjoy a walk through the beautiful, shady grounds. It is on a hill that has large shade trees everywhere. You can ride the bus (#69) which goes from the Champs de Mars all the way to the cemetery. The bus trip itself was worth it as you are able to see so much of the real Paris while riding it. There are also two metro stops very close by. I especially wanted to visit the grave site of Heloise and Abelard.

Beautiful gardens that you can walk around in. It is a great place to see real Parisians. You are not supposed to walk/sit on the grass in Parisian parks but there are a few places in Luxembourg Garders where people are allowed to sit on the grass. People were packed in so tight you would have thought it was a beach on the Riviera in the middle of a heat wave. The Pantheon in close by so it is easy to visit both places (both wonderful) the same day.

We ventured into an art exhibit at the Grand Palais and saw some pretty interesting modern art. Here is a picture of Mickey Mouse as you probably won't see him at Disneyland Paris. The building is beautiful and as interesting from the inside as from the outside.

This is a beautiful garden that is set in the Bois de Boulogne. There are special rose and iris gardens within it. The chateau and water features are beautiful and there is a "lookout" at one of the water features where you can get a nice view of the surrounding area. It is a quiet oasis in the middle of bustling Paris. It is very colorful and makes for a highly recommended and wonderful day of relaxation. Warning: you do not want to be in the Bois de Boulogne at night but the area is absolutely fine during the day

Address: Sèvres-to-Neuilly Road
Directions: It is not on a direct metro line so you need to combine metro, bus and walking. Take metro to Pont de Neuilly & bus 43 or metro to Porte Maillot and bus 244. You need to walk to the garden entrance from here.
