Great people, fun times anywhere you go It wasn't but a day in Phuket when we met the infamous BIG BO.....Nai Harn reggae pub was the place....in the middle of no where...well, off the beach into town, youll find the bar....go on in and take a look...it wont be long before you meet Bo and feel right at home immediately......and well, the people around the area....from stores, to travel agencies, internet, bike rentals, restaurants...everyone we met were beyond polite and accepting....these thais certainly enjoyed having visitors around....and we had fun with them too...there was tons to do on the island - some with a bigger price tag than others - and we enjoyed a couple different excursions and nights out....not to mention time on the beaches....there are heaps of them...and all different of course. Phuket was a pleasant surprise for us....going in for a few days...to staying 10 later....we would certainly go back again.....having found a great location right off the bat was key....there were many parts of the island which are fun to party in but wouldnt be so good to stay....we stayed in Nai Harn (at the southern most end of the island) for the duration and made our day trips out from there....again, we had an awesome time there, would recommend...but again, certain places to stay..........enjoy the following pages as they are built. |
| | Sea views from the mountain side Not a bad seat in the house. The veiw from Nai Harn at the southen most mainland part of Phuket. You know youre there when you reach a large light house ...well the actual lighthouse isint that big but the property is....youll know your there when youre there. |

| | Rebuild, replace, and reflect.Phuket going strong. One year memorial of the disaster...this photo was taken on Patong beach one year from the date....there were lots of ceremonies which were to take place in the evening...scattered amongst Im sure, were private ceremonies as well....people paid thier respects (as did I) somehow trying to put into context what had occured a year earlier...of course, it is almost impossible. Patong Beach had almost 300 casualties - however small in relation to the global devistation - it has still caused the community here a great deal of suffering....enduring though, everything seems to be (from a construction stand point) back to normal...at least here. A profound effect on a place for ever. The thais are very resilient and should be commended for the way in which they rebuild - in this case of course, Im not talking about construction..... |

| Pros: | "Lots to do incl. Phi Phi which is close, pretty good to drive a motor bike around, gorgeous scenery, some good nightlife." | | Cons: | "A little more expensive than other places, harder to get off the beaten track,..so to speak...oh ya, and police spot checks - wear your helmet!!!" | | In A Nutshell: | "Had a great time, lots to do, a good place to start our month and get sorted." |
