Only 20 kilometers from the Austrian border...the small South Bohemia town is here ''Cesky Krumlov'' ... It situated on the banks of the Vltava river, the town was built around a 13th-century castle with Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque elements. |
| | When you were here it's just like walking through a fairy tale. Its buildings haven't changed much since the 1700s, and you'll want to stay here a couple days and remain stuck in time. The unique urban integrity contains more than 300 historical buildings and its atmosphere is absolutely incomparable. Nevertheless Ceský Krumlov does not remain only an historical open-air museum but it is a living city with the typical and unique offer of cultural and social activities. It is a complex of forty buildings and palaces, situated around five castle courts and a castle park spanning an area of seven hectares. This castle city in the South-East of the Czech Republic has preserved its medieval center as no other town in the region. For this reason it entered the UNESCO register of monuments of world significance in 1992. |
