Name of Shop: Flowermarket
This row of shops all the way along the canal between two bridges, the 'bloemenmarkt' or the floating flower market I love these shops along here! Not only colourful and make fantastic photos of your visit to Amsterdam and Holland with all its tulips paraphenalia but I reckon there are some excellent prices to be got here for a really excellent range of souvenir shopping items! I love the wooden tulips here and the porcelain items ranging from Delft design to contemporary and playful mugs with dutch cows hiding inside and tulip candle and plant holders and the such. I particularly want to return to get a set of Delft coffee, tea and sugar containers - I was being mean and didnt pay the price only to realise that designs I dont like elsewhere are much more expensive!! Of course there are all the Dutch bulbs of all colours and so on but theres just so much interesting stuff you can take home to remember your trip from and the prices are actually really reasonable. I have found the shop on the corner - which is the first shop you would come to is the dearest and they get sort of cheaper as you go further along the street! But price compare a bit before you start buying if youre looking for the best prices!

balhannah Sun Jul 5, 2009 22:45 UTC Checking what I missed out on. My Hotel was a short walk from the Brewery. Lucky you having nice, calm morning for those lovely canal shots! Was hoping for that, breeze, then wind put and end to that. | Nemorino Sun Nov 9, 2008 20:14 UTC I enjoyed reading your interesting and enthusiastic tips on Amsterdam. Yes, "even the parked bicycles can be photogenic!" I wonder who those 2 million Dutch people are who don't have bicycles -- out of 16,570,613 in the country, so that makes 12%. | LoriPori Mon Aug 25, 2008 14:15 UTC Awesome page on Amsterdam, esp the information on the Flower Auction in Aalsmeer & Flower Market in Amsterdam. Also thanks for visiting my Aruba page. | mazzap Fri Apr 18, 2008 22:45 UTC Just had a very nice virtual tour of Amsterdam through your tips Angie! Brought back great memories of my trip there, those flowers and canals, the museums, bikes......so much going on in a small place! Thanks, Marion xx |
