Headed for Canterbury for the first time 2001

Heading off from St Martins in the Fields, Trafalgar Square, central London i was one of a large group following the Pilgrims Way to Canterbury to raise money for the social support group attached to the church.

Imagine walking to Canterbury!

Well we did 71 miles in 3 days, and in spring it was a lovely time of year. Fields of bright yellow flowering Rape/canola. Wild flowers and insects happily about. Excellent fresh air!!
and lots of photographs!! just got to find them and acquire the scanner to get them in here!
Stunning scenery and quaint and characterful olde englande buildings but -Hard floors along the way though!

Arriving in Canterbury!

Greeted by the Archbishop of Canterbury, a special ceremony in the cathedral and a tour around the courtyards.
And the cute streets and shops over the canals.

Since returned to see the Tour de France here in Canterbury!

Pros and Cons
  • Cons:takes a slow road to walk there! missing the donkeys!

it was thanks! a very special charity walk, very picturesque - i took a lot of nice photos along the way plus Canterbury has a lot of very old cute houses alongside a river so its a shame ive not put them into my page here!

71 miles of walking? What a major achievement. I can't imagine doing that myself :-)
