    hi and thanks very much Jim! hope all is well with you! hard to believe we are past 3/4 through the year already! are you ready for another Christmas!? Im about to fly to South America for the first time which is very exciting - with Easter Island and Macchu Picchu and Lake Titicaca highlights Im looking forward to! then home to my Mum and best friends for Christmas in NZ - the first in a long time to be there with them and not just on the phone to them! great to travel and great to have lots to forward to! all the best with you!

  Angela, great you had the opportunity to visit Kuwait. It looks a little like the impressions of my first visit to Oman. A friend from our hometown went back to Kuwait as florist, doing arrangements for huge wedding parties. Also flashbacks to the 90s when a journalist friend was trapped after the Iraqis entered the country. She escaped overland to Saudi Arabia facing a Iraqi tank in the desert by chance showing her the way to the border.

    thanks Ali - lovely to have had a visit from you to my Kuwait page though I thought i had already answered sorry! Great you had a safe and successful trip to Iraq (or Iran!?) Kurdistan! great to keep getting to these adventurous places and see people around the world - always the risk of instability or something happening but we weigh up the risk be positive and go I guess! im off to my first trip to South America in a couple of days which Im very looking forward to!   most interesting ( had started this long ago and never finished ). great pictures, enjoyed the fishermen travelogue. don't know a lot about kuwait ( other than the war ), good to learn more.

  I would love to visit Kuwait, thanks for the virtual tour of it. My friend has got a son by a Kuwaity man and I have been curious about this country, wish I could visit it one day.

  Hi,that rice dish is called machbous or makbous,doesnt look like a proper machbous though and the family from their home and sofra ( floor spread)are a very modest one by gulf standards. Glad you enjoyed your trip though.
