from our camp in Avignon to Les Beaux

On our cycles again and for a long ride to some destination called Les Beaux - that means beautiful doesnt it!

through more towns and villages and tree lined roads.

Up hills again! but lovely view amongst the crags!

well worth arriving!

We arrived in amongst dramatic crags and caverns, firstly to visit an amazing exhibition on China set up in one of the huge caverns in the rocks!! a country very close to my heart!! having studied mandarin a few nights a week for 6 years and travelled there and around twice and lots of chinese friends in Sydney - excellent Chinese restaurants in our china town too! so a bit like being back home - two years away in europe when i was on my trip to provence.
and an excellent castle type place on top of the hill overlooking miles of olive trees. just the thing for my castle mania. and cute winding streets of the small village (medieval) - full of tourists though!

Pros and Cons

Pros:a good variety
Cons:during peak season too many tourists!! a long way to cycle back to Avignon - but well worth it.
In a nutshell:cute and interesting village - and castle on top with excellent views looking from there too.

Great to see your Tips -wish there were pics too. I was there 1976 and lost my camera and exposed films on the way home!

I have this thing for old ruins - i guess in my past like I must have lived in a castle - cause i feel really at home between those walls haha :)
