In 2006 this was the first Virtual Tourist page on Ochsenfurt. It is great to see other tipsters have added pages about this pretty Bavarian town. Ochsenfurt is a small, busy and very picturesque fortified town. It lies at the most southerly point of the 'Main Dreieck' ~ that is, the (River) Main Triangle. Around 16km south of Wurzburg. Certainly worth stopping by for a walk around its historic streets and maybe a bite for lunch. Website (in German) www.ochsenfurt.de

Hauptstrasse, winds through from one
town gate to the other. Some of the large
timbered houses on the right date from
the 1260's!!
In 2007 the street was stylishly repaved,
with the addition of some modern sculpture
As well as shops, bakeries, cafe's and a
few banks, you can find the 'old' and 'new'
Rathauser and the towns main church.

This was one of my efforts, looking down
Unterbadgasse. In the centre of the
picture is the slender spire of the 18th century
Kreuzkirche.

Sean, I didn't know that you were in Germany at the beginning of December. Fabulous little page. I am glad you found out that the Germans have a good sense of humour, but I hope you knew that already before your visit of Ochsenfurt. :o) |
