I invaded Colchester 1,963 years after Julius Ceasar but, unlike him, came by train and, also unlike him, left after 3 hours.
Colchester Castle can be found just off the High Street in the town centre. It is surrounded by the green, leafy Castle Gardens, which stretch down to the River Colne.
The Castle was built by the Norman invaders of Britain at the end of the 11th century. It was constructed on Roman foundations and used bricks and tiles from Roman buildings. Hence it looks extremely decorative, almost good enough to eat.... sluuurp!!

Was it absolutely necessary to visit THREE Essex towns Sean? Were you being paid? Four? Only three are listed here! I can't find Walton on the Naze! And why do you need another dodgy sun hat? There's already a very dogdy one on your home page! ;-))
