Nightlife Spot: TJ's Club
Well, I won't tell you how long ago it was, but I went on several occasions to
TJ's in Newport to watch new bands. And some more famous examples too. Usually wild thrash punk bands. I must have fried my brain because I can't remember any names at the moment.
Apparently Kurt Cobain visited here.
Ah, those were the days!
TJ's is still fairly small ~ you will hardly be able to move on band nights and will probably get covered with the band's sweat and spit :-))
And it is still going strong on Clarence Place, across the road bridge from the city centre. They have events on various days of the week - check the
website.
Have a few drinks beforehand in the Riverside Tavern (opposite).
